Times are hard, some folks are choosing radios and books over TV. Others rely on programs like HULU and Netflix. With all the options, like the new Paramount Plus and Disney Plus, is HBO Max worth it?
That depends, the choices in movies will truly bring you on the journey that HBO original programs alway do. Everything from the TCM Hub to Cartoon Network and the DC category, which all possess great programming. Currently as of April 23rd they have most of the old Godzilla classics in honor of the new Kong vs Godzilla.
The original movies have been coming out with haste. Everyone can agree that Judas and the Black Messiah is a good movie, however Godzilla surprised most with the high ninety rating on audience reviews from Rotten Tomatoes. The Zack Snyder Justice League film is also available, surprising many with high scores and a few f words thrown in there. Knowing Snyder, I’m surprised there was no steamy sex scene.
The TCM hub will hopefully grow, their collection is not overpowering, however it is a good component if you are thinking of doing some serious movie watching. All the series from HBO are there in full, except some original movies are still missing.
I would highly recommend the service if you have the luxury, it is not necessary, however it is far better than Disney, which is lacking considerably. How can you have Disney with hundreds of cartoons missing, I would have preferred Leonard Maltin come out and do a introduction. Its sad, however HBO has a much better history of employing black actors, exploring universal themes and making worthwhile programming. Plus it has the Sesame Street hub.
If HBO Max were a footballer, he would be in the academy already worth fifty million dollars. Will it work out? To some degree, in ten years HBO Max will be playing, most likely with a high goal tally
